Winner of New Design Britain Awards!

Exciting times to be presented with the New Design Britain Award for the Surfaces category at Interiors UK. Here is a picture with all of the winners. Congratulations to everyone! Pictures and links to their work will follow soon.

Interior UK 2013

For the past few days I have been exhibiting my work at Interiors UK at the Birmingham NEC. It has been so exciting to get my work out again and talk to so many different people who were all so friendly and encouraging. I was lucky enough to win a competition to be able to show my work at this huge show so my advice to anyone is to always, always, always apply for competitions, even if you think you are not in with a chance, as you just never know!

Lots to catch up on!

For the past 3 months I have been working for a Design Consultancy called Forpeople. I have been working as part of their CMF team (Colour, Materials and Finishes) doing lots of trend and new materials research. This is something very different from what I have ever done before! I was able to work on projects for big  brands such as Dell, BA, Tata and Coke which were all totally different and quite demanding. It was exciting being let in on the secrets of these brands which obviously I won't be letting slip! It was a great experience and I learnt a lot but also found I missed designing and making things!

Just like waiting for a Bus, Nothing happens and then two come along at once!

My placement at Material Lab sadly came to an end a couple of weeks ago. I had a great time and learnt a lot and will miss working in such a nice place with lovely people. I have since been applying for lots more placements and to my surprise I got some positive responses! :D This week has been like waiting for a bus... Nothing comes for a while but then more than one comes at once! I have been offered 3 design internships, been for an interview with a big design company and offered a paid placement! Scary/crazy times but also very exciting! So I will keep you informed with my decision...

100% Design is done for another year! I was happy to help out Material Lab with putting up and taking down their stand. I was able to do a bit of design work on some magnetic flooring they had on display. Hope everyone liked it!

Tent London

Tent is now over! Thank you to everyone that visited our stand and for all the great responses. We had a very busy time but also had a lot of fun! Until next year! :D
